As Bryn drew closer to the end of the dark hallway, he motioned his team to stop so he could peer into the room. There were three men that were visible. Only one had a weapon and the others appeared to be working on a device of some sorts. They were making something that looked similar to a gate. That did not seem so bad to warrant all the secrecy.
As Bryn and his team got closer to the gate, more details of it became clearer. It appeared to be made out of gold. It stood about fifteen feet tall, twenty feet wide and five feet thick. It was rather larger. It would seem that Sadam Hussein ordered it himself. There were inscriptions written all over it in no apparent order. The inscriptions looked like pictographs but it was of images not seen on earth. On each side of the entrance was a lion head and on the opposite side were sheep heads. The eyes of the lion appeared to be made of ruby and the sheep’s eyes where clear like diamonds. Just above the gate’s entrance where two cherubim facing outwards towards the center holding what looked like swords of gold. This gate must have cost more than the world’s combine deficit. Bryn still wondered how building an expensive gate could cause such secrecy and concern the allies other than being too gaudy.
Bryn signed two of his team members off in one direction and he and Sue went around the other way. Deep in the back of Bryn’s mind, he had a feeling he was being watched. He wondered if it could have been that shadow he saw earlier in the alley. As the team crept up on each side of the workers, the fourth person came into view. This man was rather tall. He stood at least a head above the workers but he was proportioned correctly; not skinny tall or overweight large. The workers seemed to be communicating with the tall person but the language was not familiar with Sue.
The workers stopped with their tasks, turned and stood in a line in front of the gate, and with stoic faces looked at the tall man who was standing them facing the gates entrance. The tall man opened his mouth and a piercing sound came from it. Not a sound a human could make. Bryn and Sue gripped their ears. The sound was so intense and loud the men standing right in front of the large man fell to the ground, life-less with blood oozing out of every orifice on their head. Bryn glanced over at his other members of the team. They too were in pain from the sound. One was laying over on his side, curled up in the fetal position. Then from behind him he felt a thump at his feet. Sue was on the ground in a pool of blood. He quickly checked her vitals. She had succumbed to this deathly sound. Bryn had enough. He motioned to the other team members to close in and take this monster, or whatever he was, out.
As quickly as Bryn moved from his position into an open area, he turn his gun towards the man and took it off of safety to open fire. However, things started to slow down. Bryn could see that things were slowing down; like putting real life in slow motion. The closer he was getting the slower things got. It was like he was getting stuck deeper into molasses. Bryn has never experienced this type of occurrence before. Just as a bullet was leaving the chamber of his gun and the explosion of fire expelling out of the muzzle, time stopped. Bryn could see the bullet stuck in mid-air with the fire ball wrapped around the tail end of it. In real time, a red, fiery light appeared from the other side of the gate, like a distant glow from which were facing the man became alive and was roaring with anger. Their eyes made of rubies, blazed fire out of them. The lions shook their heads as if they were in pain.
Bryn thought to himself that he must be dreaming. What was going on? His head was in so much pain. He could feel the heat from the blood that was pouring from his nose and ears. Is this what happens when you die? Bryn felt that his life was ending. He could not turn his head to check on his team. But he was sure they were all dead. His eyes were fixed on the man in front of this gate. About the time the gate shown so bright that it was burning the retina in the back of his eyes, the man tuned and peered into Bryn. This man looked like no human he has ever seen. His face was hollowed and his eyes were as bright as the gate. He was not screaming anymore but from the gate you could hear thousand, possibly millions of human screams and cries. And as time began to speed up again, a fire ball blew out of the gate towards the man. It engulfed him and was barreling down the building towards Bryn. Bryn was falling to the ground and from nowhere he was swept away from the building with the speed of lightening. It was a tremendous speed that the force was causing him to black out. He could feel the heat from the blast on his legs. The pain was unbearable. This was a heat he has never experienced before. Could it be a blast from some nuclear explosion or was acid in this bomb the suicidal man caused to explode? A million things were going through Bryn’s mind just before blacking out from the G-force of being swept away. But he realized someone or something was trying to save him from this explosion. He took a glance at it. It was a woman… or an angel… or an animal with wings… as he looked at her face, he saw nothing. He remembered the light burning his eyes, so he clinched them shut and opened them again.
